Lovers of Synthpop, Indie-Electronic, or the more modern title, Indietronica, will always exist it seems. I am a self-proclaimed synth head myself and grew up listening to a lot of the art rock music that came about in the late 70’s and rose to dominance in one form or another in the 80’s. I am a product of that synth generation. Every outfit or musical project I involve myself with consist of heavy doses of synthesizers.
There are just too many bands and artists that I look up to in the realm of Synthpop “Indietronica” for me to mention. And when I listen to Miami-based duo Eons, many of these names come to mind. Eons has a familiar sound I love dearly. Their melodies are wonderfully catchy, the beats and vocoder greatly remind me of Chromeo, which is another duo whose sound contains many of these unmentioned Synthpop artists. In truth I can see them performing right along side Chromeo quite perfectly.
They just dropped their new album Serene Machine, which consists of six dope tracks, that all could be good and unique singles. The album is mixed and mastered by Tony Murphio of Afrobeta. The tracks groove so well, which is a factor that’s going to make them very accessible to wider audiences than many of their fellow Indie-Electronic music contemporaries lately who tend to be more avant-garde with their musical approach. Personally I love music that grooves. Groove is the special ingredient behind many successful songs, but this shouldn’t be a secret. Still you either have groove or you don’t and Eon’s definitely does.
