I’m finally getting my life in order, or so it seems, after the hideous holidays. I’m starting to get FFC out earlier, almost on Friday even!
Well there’s a lot of work to do in my daily life as well as on here. With several EP’s coming out very soon as well as the revamp of The Global Bass Experience podcast as well as the new one by 4:20 Music Flavour (I’m guessing his show will taste a bit herbal).
I don’t want to take up much of your time because this weekend there is a lot of great Cumbia to share. So it is best to just get to it already.
It’s been a long while since I’ve heard a peep from Alto Peru. Well this video surfaced this week of clips of their live show.
It’s always good to hear something new from Elegante & La Imperial. After the EP last year I haven’t heard much so again a pleasant surprise this week with a very unique James Blake remix.
Early next week we will be releasing Aurturo Herrera’s new EP exclusively here on TGBE. All last year I was busy collecting his tracks and sharing them with all of you. It brings me much pleasure to release an EP with him. Keep an eye out for it early next week but first here is a track from it to give you a little taste.
Terror Negro as usual delivers dopeness by way of Chakruna, one of my all time favorite DJ’s. Here he is with the MC who has been making a strong impression lately, MC Jocker.
Each week I share at least one mixtape, this week I have three very different ones. First from our good friend and colleague Pedrolito with his latest Folklore Digital #11.
This next one is made with respect towards African percussive roots by DJ Subversivo on KONN Recordings.
The third and final mixtape this week comes from Piska Power. This one dabbles in several Tropical Bass styles but has enough Cumbia on it to make it to appear here, making it very different than the previous two.
Connecting Mexico to Argentina, DJ Gonzalo After-mix drops this Cumbia featuring modern legends, Fantasma.
I have never, nor ever thought that I would, hear Tricky in Cumbia form. But 4:20 Selektah makes it happen! Tricky really takes me back.
Derbastler is at it again with his Eastern Cumbia Balkanica sound. Here is the new track free to download called “Chord Snatcher.”
As I continue to phone it in this week, somewhat rather noticeably, the music selection continues to be strong. For example El Mulato and his Cumbia de Terraza style of remixing with yet another Dub version of a classic.
Borders will never make sense to me no matter how many times someone tries to explain it. My parents had sex here in the United States and happened to stick around for nine months afterward. So that makes me a U.S. citizen apparently. Where did your parents have sex?
We’re getting there though. I work at a law firm that deals with immigration law and defense. I produce videos explaining the most recent advancements in immigration policy. The fact that we in the United States are now a “third world” country even though most are still buying into the illusion that everything will go back to the way things were ten years ago, makes it incredibly foolish to not allow commerce and workers provided by illegal immigrants to flourish here. Those in opposition of amnesty are pushing legislation that only hurts our economy.
Well things have to change once people come to their senses and face reality.
Now this next one is interesting. It is Cumbia, House and Hip Hop all in one. El Pinche Chule not only has a great name but also has a signature sound.
Albert DJ Style digs the old school Cumbias. His remixes of artists like Lisandro Meza fill many of our Cumbia crates. Here is his latest.
DJ Rayo and Tribilin Sound take “Chambacu” to a whole new place with their new remix. Separate DJ Rayo and Tribilin Sound are amazing but together is a sound undefinable.
El Dirty Sonidero appears here again with another Cumbia remix. The French take on Cumbia in a unique way, it’s hard to describe because they are all different but there is just something unique about them that I can’t put my finger on.
Cumbia Twerk comes our way by way of El Sabor with this wild track “Landcaster.”
To end things this weekend I have a special EP by our good friend Orihuela M.S.S. he produced for Regional Label. It’s called “Cumbia Sonidera Digital” and it is a strong representation of his own style and approach to Nu Cumbia. Four tracks long, this EP will surely make all lovers of Digital Cumbia extremely happy.
I saw a lot of great new Cumbia this week. 2014 is starting off rather well as I expected for we Nu Cumbieros. Let’s keep it going together!
