Salsa, we don’t cover that many Salsa releases. I just realized this when I was listening to Bio Ritmo and some of their new music from their upcoming album release in June, June 24th to be exact.
When we do cover Salsa it’s normally due to the Tropicaneando Con Paola show when Paola plays some classics. But come to think of it, I personally haven’t promoted much of the genre except for the occasional Salsa inspired song. But Bio Ritmo is Salsa in true form, there is no imitation here. They are the real deal and Puerta Del Sur is the name of the their new album from Vampisoul Records.
The world is a melting pot of cultures now, that’s how I can explain Bio Ritmo to be located in Richmond, Virginia. When I think of Richmond, Virginia, I think of old East Coast Colonial housing and forests, never Salsa. But now that has definitely changed. From now on when I think of Richmond, Virginia, I’ll keep all the old imagery but update it with more color and spice.
Bio Ritmo is a damn good band because they take Salsa and other Latin rhythms to new unique places. Their arrangements breathe new life into Salsa, instead of simply playing the same old way that all the main stream Salsa singers and bands do today, Bio Ritmo updates the genre into something new and very interesting. You’ll just have to see and hear for yourself.
I have a video for their song La Via and a download available of another one of their songs Se Les Olvido. This band is very interesting. You really should check them out if you haven’t yet.
