I’ve always felt a kindred musical spirit in El Buho, he and I share a similar approach to Nu Cumbia production with our love of the ambient, downtempo and beautiful melodies.
El Buho’s name came up a month or so ago when I was speaking to a friend. I started to wonder why I hadn’t heard much from him in a while. Then I received a couple of emails with his new collaborative work History Of Colour.
As expected it moves me. The songs carry the same mystique and majestic sonic atmosphere that I have come to know El Buho for. ZZK Records wisely picked him up for this release. It will be good for their label to incorporate El Buho’s gorgeous downtempo music. Along with Argentine Barrio Lindo, History Of Colour is one of the best albums I’ve encountered all year and just in time before the year is up. It will definitely be on my best albums list of 2014.
