Piper Street Sound wrote this lovely Chicha inspired song and had his friends contribute to the production of it.
Dialect Trio is the main band involved, which means there is excellent musicianship from guitarist Russ Bledsoe, percussionist Robby Astrove and the wonderful Yaya Brown, myself appearing on the first solo with my Telecaster and of course the maestro behind it all Piper Street Sound (Matthew Mansfield).
I was surprised how well all three of our guitars fit together in the song. Russ’ slide work on his solo following mine is simply gorgeous and Piper Street Sound’s guitar throughout perfectly and beautifully replicates the classic Chicha guitar sound. The slide throughout by Russ really adds a lot of flavor and the Telecaster just lends that sweet twang making this song a true fusion of many different elements.
The percussion is incredible to say the least. Especially in the live Dub version. Yaya Brown and Robby Astrove compliment each other perfectly. I couldn’t imagine a better percussive pairing for this venture.
I love this song. I think it is one of the best Piper Street Sound has composed and one of the best to be released from his home studio. I take much pride in not only being involved with playing on the song but also having the ability to share it here on The Global Bass Experience with all of you.
Here is a cool little video of Piper Street Sound mixing the live dub mix in the studio.
