Alrite, squids, here it is; The latest edition of “You Need Deep”. This time around we talk with the man known as King Kong about paying dues, his inspirations, and a possible EP coming up in the future.
TGBE:
How did you first become involved with Electronic Music?
King Kong:
I have to thank my older brother for that because without him, I wouldn’t know anything about music in general. The main reason why I decided to start producing beats and tracks was because I felt I could make some kind of contribution to music in general, I was always making beats and melodies with my head i thought ”why not”.
TGBE:
You’ve been called “The King Of Moombahsoul” a few times now, how did that start?
King Kong:
I can’t really accept that title because without David Heartbreak & Munchi, I would never be involved in the genre, they’re the true kings and I only try to keep the genre alive.
TGBE:
What inspires you to get creative?
King Kong:
My girlfriend, friends and my 4 cats. And a lot of producers I love like Timbaland, Missy Elliot, Scott Storch, etc. I am so thankful that i grew up in the 90’s and everyone knows R n’ B and Hip Hop was sick back then.
TGBE:
What kind of music are you digging lately?
King Kong:
Lately I’ve been in love simply with beats and I can give you some names, like Mr. Carmack, Eprom, Kastle, Ta-ku, Team Supreme and Stwo.
TGBE:
Any future plans or projects coming up?
King Kong:
I have an UK Bass and Garage project coming up, all by myself because it’s a genre that’s very melodic and emotional, it makes me wanna dance so hard. As King Kong, I have a lot of tracks to finish, i can’t still decide if I gather some and release them in EP’s or if i’m going to make like i always do and just put online for free.
TGBE:
If you could give one piece of advice to a Producer who’s just getting into making music, what would it be?
King Kong:
Don’t be afraid to make what’s in your head and don’t be afraid to ask and talk to people, even those you think they’ll never answer .. you never know. If i can do it, anyone can.
As if that wasn’t enough, he even made you some Moombahsoul, just for this interview! Get it:
