The Halloween edition of Funky Friday Cumbia is still in the works. There are a few productions that are being finished so I pushed back the date to Tuesday, October 29th to publish it. I too am at fault because I also haven’t finished mine either. So even the publisher who came up with the idea didn’t make the deadline. I could blame the flu, but why blame? Let’s just have some fun. These tracks are going to be great. We really have some very cool things in store for the Halloween edition, so if you stay connected with us you will be pleasantly surprised.
This week I encountered a lot of great Nu Cumbia uploaded including the single from Philthy Dronez’s new EP “Wepa Life,” which will be out on November 1st here on The Global Bass Experience. We had the first listen to the single “Don Sandia” and today we’ll get to hear another track “Racheta feat. Mexia.” These tracks are great and this new one is very different compared to Don Sandia, instead of a Fito Olivares vibe this new one has some Trap elements happening.
Look for the official release on November 1st when I’ll also write a more extensive review.
We also heard some new sci fi craziness from Tu Guaina. I almost put this on the Halloween edition, I might do it anyway because it definitely is eerie in parts.
Arturo Herrera DJ reshaped this old Colombian classic and took it to some wild space-like places. This is one hell of a futuristic edit.
Then Arturo Herrera drops this very different lovely edit showing a different of his style.
Oye! Simpson will be making a special appearance here on TGBE next month with an exclusive EP. I honestly can’t wait to hear his new work and to share it with all of you. For now he has some new stuff to hold us over. Also look for his production on the upcoming Halloween edition.
Yeah Qechuaboi is a wild man with his productions. Cumbia Digital would deal with pixels in a visual form. This is a good soundtrack to all the uploaded Cumbia pictures online.
This was a lovely little find for me. Pablo Tesio dropped his original new Cumbia Digital production just the other day. You have to check this one out, it’s really cool and fun. Also it is free to download.
With all the Daft Punk remixes out there these days it’s really nice to come across one that isn’t of a popular song, at least not yet. Don Alex even played his own keyboards over this remix. This is definitely worth checking out.
I even have something new from Snow Balderas. It’s been a while and it’s always good to hear more from a good friend. This is a mashup of ideas from all over the place.
Pedrolito keeps the mixes coming. I don’t know when he sleeps with all these shows he mixes for but he manages. “Muevelo” isn’t only Cumbia though, it incorporates other Global Bass genres including a heavy dose of Dancehall.

It’s always a pleasure to show some of our artists performing live. We get used to just listening to each other’s tracks so often we create images of the artists behind the music. Nixtamal shows his live DJ work in this cool little video (good mix too).
This is one dubbed out edit from Rayo Mix. Hitting up old Colombia with new technology is always a trip. It comes out like a soundtrack to a wild dream.
Last up is Damo Naimad. I had the pleasure of contributing some guitar work on his new EP “Sonora Conurbano” on the track “Flying Sonora.” This is a lovely Cumbia Digital EP with several contributors. On this track Santiago Junca was also featured playing his congas.
Here is the full EP with collaborations from the talented Piper Street Sound, Corsa Diesel, Anita ChikiChikita, Lucas Natoli and the of course Santiago and myself.
I will have a more extensive review written for this EP later next week.
Okay mis cumbieros I will see you again on Tuesday with our Halloween edition!
Peace
